The government in Stockholm said that, starting July 1, the coast guard and the Swedish Maritime Administration will be tasked with collecting insurance information not just from ships that call at Swedish ports, but also those that pass through the country’s territorial waters and exclusive economic zone.
“Winning is something that we want to do right now,” Smith said. “Just seeing the direction everything’s going and how hard these guys are working and just how bad everyone wants to win, I’m fortunate to be a part of this thing. I just want to continue to build it, to continue for this thing to grow. The sky’s the limit for this team, this organization. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together.”At 34, Smith provides a veteran presence at sports’ ultimate leadership position, and Kelly said he even has impacted how the coaches go about their business.
“He’s just been emblematic of what a leader should be, by his habits and by the way he brings himself every day,” Carroll said. “He’s the first guy out here, he’s the last guy to leave.”Meyers noted that time commitment as well.“By having Geno, it kind of brings a sense of stability,” Meyers said. “He knows what he’s doing. He shows up the same every day, his personality stays the same every day. I haven’t seen him have a bad day yet. So I can’t have bad days if the leader has no bad days.”
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton wanted to play well with his father, John, back in Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the first time in two-plus weeks Tuesday night. That wasn’t the only motivation behind the best performance of his career.
Haliburton made amends for the mistakes he made in Game 3 by finishing with
four steals and no turnovers in a 130-121 victory over the New York Knicks. He became the first NBA player with at least 30 points, 15 assists, 10 rebounds and no turnovers in a postseason game since turnovers were first tracked in 1977-78.“It directly debunks the claim that vaccines were never tested against placebo,” said Dr. Jake Scott, a Stanford University infectious disease physician who’s helping lead the project.
Antivaccine groups argue that some substances scientists call a placebo may not really qualify, although the list shows simple saline shots are common.Sometimes a vaccine causes enough shot-site pain or swelling that it’s evident who’s getting the vaccine and who’s in the control group — and studies might use another option that slightly irritates the skin to keep the test “blinded,” Scott explained.
And when there’s already a proven vaccine for the same disease, it’s unethical to test a new version against a placebo, he said.“We can’t always expect placebo-controlled trials,” Scott said. “It’s imperative that be communicated clearly to the public, but it’s challenging especially when there’s so much noise in social media and so much misinformation.”
