“I was amazed,” she says. “It was a last-minute, rushed video that I thought only close family and friends would enjoy. I never imagined it would receive so much love and attention so quickly.”“Many people were sharing memories of their own pets who had lived long lives,” she adds of the comments. “A lot of people said they were inspired to document their dogs’ lives alongside their children as they grow up together.”

Now that David has graduated, Anissa shares that he’ll be leaving for Marine Corps boot camp next week. Brady, who sleeps in David’s room every night, is sure to miss him deeply.

“I really hope people understand that pets aren’t just gifts or things to get rid of when they’re no longer small,” Anissa says. “Pet ownership takes dedication and love. They’re part of our families and should be treated as such.”Read the original article on
